Sea fishing for beginners - any recommendations in the South of England? Hello all I'm an absolute novice when it comes to sea fishing, but some friends and I have been talking about organising a day or half a day's sea fishing somewhere in the South of England towards the end of August. Just for fun of course. I was wondering whether any veterans such as yourselves might be kind enough to recommend some particularly good places / people that could accommodate a group of amateurs at that time of year (there'd be about eight of us). Obviously we'd need a skipper, and we'd probably make a night of it so anywhere within reasonable driving distance of a town or city with a few decent pubs would also be very helpful indeed. Does anybody have any recommendations? I'd really appreciate your advice. Thanks Steve

Re: Sea fishing for beginners - any recommendations in the South of England? Head for Weymouth fella ! massive charter fleet, accomodation for anglers (Sailors return pub) and 2 decent nightclubs on the quay...best bet is to book any day but a saturday as most boats will be full ! Failing that try Brighton / Littlehampton ..good fishing ports but never tried myself . Really depends if you want more fishing or more drinking ![]() Steve __________________ Shore Species 2012: Bugger All !!

Re: Sea fishing for beginners - any recommendations in the South of England? That's really helpful advice - thanks! We were thinking of doing it on a Saturday, but if you think it will be too busy I'll investigate Sundays too (assuming people go out on Sundays). Cheers Steve

Re: Sea fishing for beginners - any recommendations in the South of England? you will find spaces on a Saturday but i tend to find if a skipper isnt booked up at weekends theres a good reason for this ! you could try fishing the Friday too then stay over Friday night and hit the sights on the saturday ![]() try here for more ideas mate - http://www.charterboats-uk.co.uk/ or here - http://www.deepsea.co.uk ( more South Coast area ) most boats are out 7 days a week depending on weather and some offer half day trips - anything from 4 hours inshore for whatever is a about to a full 8-10 hour trip giving the opportunity to fish further afield.. Expect to pay around 20 quid for a half day and upto 45 ish for a full days fishing If you do decide on Weymouth let me know and i'll help you sort out all the bits and bobs ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Bugger All !!
