Re: shrimps How did you get on up there? Foot is alot less painful to walk on now but still a nasty open wound, If they are of a decent size or quite small, same as prawns third segment of the tail, you will catch mullet,Bass, sea trout. (flatties if fishing the bottom....if the crabs don,t get ther first! ) Be warned they tend to sort out the bigger Bass and don,t leave your rod unattended unless you have the drag set. Tight Lines, regards Jason.

Re: shrimps The tractor tyres that are exposed at low tide at Warshaw should be teaming with decent shrimp now. Just take a soil sieve dip it the the water and pull up quick, sorts the big boys from the little 'uns. I then mount 'em on a size 1 hook in underneath the tail and push them up round the hook. Top bait for this time of year. __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck

Re: shrimps Yes mate re tides, it is very quick running, i found that when i used to fish there, also there is very small window of opportunity, this is either at the top of the tide when it starts to go slack or turn, again at the bottom of the tide. I am utterly amazed you didn,t do better, one trick i did learn there is to cast against the tide, let your lead roll back towards you until it comes to a rest, sometimes it will find its own spot and stop, don,t be put off by this as generally the fish are only feeding about two feet from the water line. When you cast against the flow of the river and the lead is making its way past you or even settling on the bank 40yds away this is when you will get your takes...generally on the move, Bass will chase it, Leave the settled bait for say 5 minutes, if no takes retrieve and certainly rebait, if no fish took it the crabs would have depleted it. Its not a sit still and wait for a bite river, the action is normally fast paced and you need to be holding your rod waiting for tugs to strike, if you can imagine a fish taking your bait when your lead has settled, he swims back up across the tide he will get himself off due to the lead being pulled one way by the tide, you won,t know unless you are holding the rod, if in a rod rest you will assume it was the tide, i made this mistake when i started fishing there. Same float fishing, cast against the tide and let it trot downstream, but retreive when it settles, repeat process and rebait if necessary. Good later on (September) is to float fish a mepps spinner leaving the treble on and load with red rag, smallest mepps they do, cannot remember exactly the mepps size, it is tiny (for mullet) fight of a life time. For some reason it seems to be a rare occasion i have caught them this way earlier on in the year, they seem to switch off algae eating and turn to worm baits. Maybe the fishing has gone down hill up there mate, but i saw fishyrob did alright a month or so ago, had a few Bass and caught a few Mullet up there by the bridge....tap in fishyrob and go to his web site, don,t know if he mentioned what baits he was using/methods.
