| Hi folks, Just lately all I seem to be able to buy all around my local area is this farmed rag. Now is it me or does anyone else think it dosent fish too well. OK it is always nice quality and it does last, and yes, I know that it means there will always be rag about, but I honestly think its cack? It just dosent seem to fish very well. Im interested in what you guy’s think. Kiwi. __________________ Kia ora / Dia dhuit. - Matauranga kei ana kaha. | All the Local Tackle shops here use farmed rag and they can dictate the size of worm they want. I have had "maddie size" in the past for floundering. But the majority are normal King Rag. We used them on the boat in the Bristol Channel all through last year and have found no problem with them. They still catch fish. We have caught Dover Sole, Cod, Skate, Eels, Whiting, Conger and Bass. I have also used it from the shore and it works for me, but like you I still have a "gut" feeling its not the same scent as natural bait. But it may be different from the shore in your part of the world. Hope this helps |

| Re: Farmed Rag. Farmed rag is fed an exclusive diet of algae grown on site. I have a mistrust of this myself, If you were to eat fish and chips all the time I think you would notice a difference if you had a curry. I think it is the exclusive diet that makes the rag smell different to wild rag. Bit like the difference you notice in taste between a wild bass and a farmed bass. No proof for this, just call it a gut feeling. |

| Re: Farmed Rag. Don't like the farmed Rag myself...rather dig it myself as i find you don't get enough for your money at the shop as they sell them buy weight down my way and not quantity and the farmed rag always seem so much bigger then the worms that i would collect. I notice that alot of the time normal collected rag will out fish farmed almost every session down my way...not sure why that is but i spose thats what this thread is about eh? will be good to see all your views on this mater! Nice post Kiwi |

| Re: Farmed Rag. iv found dug stuff much better than the farmed stuff. But it does have its good points, like it stays alive for ages and theres always a good supply of the stuff throughout the winter time. |
