Re: rod stuck together

either try 2 people, twisting the sections in different directions

this next one sounds daft but can help, if you can remove the butt cap will often lose the vacuum inside to help as well

good luck

Re: rod stuck together

Hi ive just parted a daiwa amorphus 4/10 uptide rod that had been stuck what i did was pour boilling hot water out of a kettle over the joint maybe six or seven times then pull and twist the rod if at first it doesent move try more boilling water it will take time should the water not be hot enough i put the boilling water out of the kettle into pan on the cooker to get it super hot this did the trick i now have a pair of the best ever uptide rods made knock spots off the TDX range tightlines Alain

Re: rod stuck together

wd40 & other oils will be absorbed by carbon blanks and make them swell effectively jamming the spigot.
hold the rod and repeatedly flex it at the spigot while twisting the rod around in your hands so the blank gets flexed in all directions .
this will alow air to get between the 2 sections and will eventually free it off.

toptip- supplied by 'planktonboy' when i was wingeing about my beloved awb getting stuck together after, like a compleate d**khead, without thinking i used chip fat to lubricate the joint.
it might take an hour but this did work.
the rod had been stuck in one piece for about a year despite my best efforts to separate it

Re: rod stuck together

the hot water didnt work on mine, thats why i was asking for ideas at the time

neither did ,
2x strong guys pulling & twisting it apart.
see above but with tacky gloves for xtra grip
removeing the butt cap & the tip ring to try and break any air locks,
also getting a 7ft rod to drill a hole in the cork bung and def rule out any air lock issues.
application of hot water, washing up liquid,
hotwater & washing up liquid.
6 months of anger, rage and lots of foul language

Re: rod stuck together

do you have access to a vice or vice grips if so trap the top half in the vice (not to tight you dont want to crack the blank then get some rubber gloves and put all you weight into twisting it the rubber gloves add extra grip

just to point out , it took me 5 minutes to drive over to his house and about 5 seconds for the rod to be parted lol

Guess some peoples grip is better than others !
