Re: How do you catch worm bait for sea fishing? please help!!!

i wouldnt surgest a pump for normall blow lug! they good for blacks i think but a bit harsh on the back if you ask me! id use a narrow spade for black lug a normal garden fork for blow lug and a short pronged fork for rag-worms!

its hard to describe where to dig them so all i'll say is..... blow & Black and yellow tail lug from the beach....white rag also from the beach and maddies (red-rag) from the rivers!

sorry cant help you anymore chap but good luck with your bait collecting

Re: How do you catch worm bait for sea fishing? please help!!!

i good way to find them is to walk along the mud (carefuly) and watch your feet, where water bubbles outa little wholes near where you tread there will be rag near by, the depth which they are depends on the layering in the mud in my experience, they tend to live in more clay mud and avoid the darker black mud with lots of organic matter in,(in my experience) and will often live in just above the layer of black mud

Re: How do you catch worm bait for sea fishing? please help!!!

If were talking Maddies(red-rag) then try digging in the gravel more then in the mud/clay as they are easier to dig and as the gravel brakes you can see them easier! we get around the 20-40 red rags per dig up my river..opps did i say that!! were not alloud to dig the river....i ment harbour lol but yer your right about the holes Ben! anywhere you see them holes then try digging it...your almost bound to find some!!

Ollie.

Re: How do you catch worm bait for sea fishing? please help!!!

the edge of gravel is usualy good,
diging in mud is hard because the folk doesnt work very well, your feet sink and if its like my mud then its full of broken glass and stuff to hurt your hands
go in pairs if you can, 1 person digs for a while and the other picks out the worms and then you swap, also if you get stuck it helps, safety 1st while on the mud

Re: How do you catch worm bait for sea fishing? please help!!!

Get yourself a big new JCB.
Seriously, for blow lug find the cast then locate the blow hole, dig from the blow hole back to the cast the worm lives in au shaped burrows so you cant pump them, but you can pump yellow tails and gullys.
If there are lots of cast you can just dig trenches as if you were digging the garden.
One word though backfill your holes
For rag Take bens advice.
HAVE FUN
