red power gum

hi all just gone though a bag of fishing lines ive got and come across a sm reel of red power gum, what is it used for ,looks way to stretchy for fishing line?
eny info will be gratefully recieved.

I use it for stop knots on floats, mainly when floatfishing deadbaits for pike - not sure what other people use it for..

I use the red power gum (10lbs) for my drop-down traces and for float stops -
