Mono or Braid??

I picked up an old multiplier, works very well, very free running, I plan to use it with a light boat rod, for occasional use, and have some 30lb braid in stock. The rod I plan to use has a choice of 3 tips, gloing from 6lb to 12lb.
So I am thinking of putting the braid on the multiplier, and also using it to beach cast with.
So mono or braid? Braid may be better on a boat, obviously I'll be using a shock leader.

Re: Mono or Braid??

Braid for boats , mono for beach casting with a multi , far too expensive to cut them nests out every other cast

Re: Mono or Braid??

Er, a green one. No makers name, got it for a a fiver. Very free running, I think I'll put the braid on an only use it for the boat.
Perhaps I'll stick with fixed spool reels for the shore, after all I have 30+ years of experience tangling those things so I'll stick to what I'm best at..

Re: Mono or Braid??

You got it ....

braid for most boat applications (not uptiding, when you need some stretch); mono for beach multipliers. 30lb braid straight through on a 'pit' fixed-spool reel (large diameter spool) is what a lot of match anglers use.
