Cooking Your Catch!

Hello All,

My girlfriend recently started up a cooking blog, heres an article I thought a few people might be interested in where she cooks some pollack I'd caught off Exmouth Docks. I'm sure there will be more blogs to follow as I catch more fish.

http://nom27.blogspot.com/2010/04/something-fishy.html

btw: it tasted LOVELY.

Cheers.

Re: Cooking Your Catch!

Nicely done. Just a tip for your other half, always gut the fish you plan to eat before freezing. I usually do this as soon as possible after catching.

Re: Cooking Your Catch!

that was my fault! I'm so hopeless with cooking and as she was away I just threw them straight in the freezer. Will remember next time though as I've now been shown how to gut and fillet them :P

Talking Re: Cooking Your Catch!

Buy your better half the River Cottage Fish book...its bloody brill and full off everything the coast has to offer

When doing Pollack it's best to fillet then skin the fillets on day of capture and then leave in the fridge for two days covered in cling film - cut into goujons and breadcrumb them..deep fried with tartare sauce i reckon they're better than Cod !

when we do 3 day Alderney trips all the Pollack and Cod are filleted and placed in ice in the hold and then shared out equally once we're back in Weymouth... i've eaten tons of the stuff - try deep frying a battered fillet off an 18lb Pollack lol

Re: Cooking Your Catch!

I'll pass that on, great advice =D might get the book as a surprise too.
Probably going to end up catching more pollack tonight as we're doing another docks session.
