Hello, Im new and need help. I am new and need some guidence on what rod/reel to buy. I have been using my friends rod and reel the last few times I went, which was just to try out fishing, I now want to buy my own. I am willing to pay upto about 80-100 quid and dont need really good gear just gear to do the job. If anyone could tell me the Make, Model, or even just a type to buy it would help me greatly. I am really novice so just be basic thanks! Oh yea it is the river tyne on the newcastle side (quay side). So a rod/reel to withstand that thanks.

Re: Hello, Im new and need help. I can't give you a make and model to buy as I'm not from up there so don't now whats best but if you pop into your local fishing shop they'll probably tell you exactly what you need for where you wanna go, thats what theyre like down here anyway. __________________ - Steve

Re: Hello, Im new and need help. for a starter kit you probably want to look for something around the £40 mark and then maybe £10 of basic starter tackle. Get a cheap toolbox in a poundshop elsewhere, cheap scissors and knife will also come in handy. I'm sure somebody else will reply with regards to rods etc but this is a great thread by pingu about a starter tackle kit: tackle box basics for beginners __________________ - Steve
