Fishing - Skill or Luck ???

Do you think catching fish is down to luck or skill?

I reckon it's a bit of both, but depends what type of fishing you do...

What do the rest of you think?

I agree, its a bit of both. Skill and experience come into play, but fishermen have to rely on a large amount of luck

i agree,although with experience you can improve your chances its still down to luck how the fish are going to react to your baits or what fish are going to be in your area when you cast out,
thats the beauty of fishing

Hi Folks,

I asked an old friend to make up numbers on a charter, he had never fished in his life. After setting him up with a rod and reel and a brief explanation on 'what to do "if" ' we left him to it. He announced that his weight had touched the bottom and that something was pulling his line, to cut a long story short, he had a 12lb Bass.

Was it luck or skill???

have to say both but my catch rate is improveing as i learn more so think skill is just above luck as luck will run out eventually

It's skill when you persistently catch good fish.

It's luck when you only catch fish occasionally.

ts gotta be abit of both, skill needed in doing the right things n picking the right place but luck as well, neither of which i seem to have much of, lol
