Weed Problem Happened Overnight!

Hi all as i am sure you are aware i fish off langley point at least twice a week. Its all clean ground fishing and lost one rig in thirty sessions! At the end of last week the harbour at eastbourne (Soverign) has had a massive vessel coming in and out 24 hours a day. It then dissapears one mile off shore then comes back in again. This has been happening for a few days now. I can only assume the vessel is a dredger. Well since it has been working me and a good friend have fished the same mark and hitting snags nearly every cast. I returned today and fished two seperate parts of the beach and every cast has been a snag. Have lost more rigs in two sessions than in the previous twenty odd! There have been traces of weed not kelp coming back on the leads is the dredger causing this or just natural weed growth at the start of spring? Any ideas folks?

I fished fri night and had the same problem .the weed was so bad i gave up,
spring tides ,Big tides , big surfs caused the problems for me

Tip/ on nights like that dont fish it you could snap the tip off your rod(been there done it mate) 2nd if you do(for some strange reason) keep your rigs simple ie no beads, no fancy leads, no swivels etc, tie your rig straight through. But i would advice dont fish it if your loosing rigs, what knot are you useing for your shockleader, that could be breaking first. Tight lines Ps i hate weed full stop, can ruin a session as we all know.

if the ship in question is a dredger (as it sounds) it will be taking thousands of tons of sand off local banks, this sand will then get replaced by the sand on the beaches (as is happening in south wales) causing the rocks which were once being covered by the sand to now be on display. As for the weed this could be caused by the sunlight we are having latley causing improved photosynthisis and promoting the growth in varios alges

using uni knots on rigs

Please be as so kind as to tell me if poss how you tie your mainline on to your shockleader, briefly, as your rig isnt breaking, but you are loosing them. Here to help.

i tied my mainline onto shock leader with a double uni knot so the two knots slide up to one another line is 15lb mono shock leader 60lb greased weasel.
