Re: anyone fished plymouth breakwater?

Na he means the real breakwater not Mount Batten

You can only fish it on select days of the year by buying a ticket, never done it myself (too slow on getting the ticket!)

The have some lovely fish off there usually though. Plaice, conger, mullet, wrasse etc

Someone from my club was mulleting and had one on which a conger took and he ended up landing the conger on a feeder rod! (it snapped but still)

They are aparently going to start organising more days to fish it which is good news

Re: anyone fished plymouth breakwater?

looks like a bit of a blast, boat out, catch some bait then dabble for a conger
or mess around with a float for mullet! pretty unusual and maybe
productive place too wet a line!

Re: anyone fished plymouth breakwater?

Contact either Clives Tackle shop, or the one on Victoria road at St Budeaux, as they usually sell the tickets for the 1 day trip out to the breakwater, usually sometime over the summer. Not sure if u can just get a boat and go out there yourself so to speak, or if you need permission.

Re: anyone fished plymouth breakwater?

They are doing a day there on 10th April, tickets on sale from Clives and Plymouth Angling for £12.50 with prizes worth around £300 and the boat leaves from mount batten pier

Re: anyone fished plymouth breakwater?

We entered a team from our ship in the Royal Navy & Royal Marines UK championships held on Plymouth Breakwater back in the late 70's, our team didn't come anywhere in the match but we all caught loads of fish. I remember catching quite a few Ballan Wrasse from amongst the rocks using a home made glass fibre 'Jim Gibbinson Clooper Carp Rod' and a couple of Bass on an 11ft home made Bass rod. (In those days making some of your rods from kits was common practice).

I remember the winning team had some large Mullet amongst their catch and a couple of congers.

I would love to fish there again we had a really great days fishing.

Re: anyone fished plymouth breakwater?

Out of curiosity does any one know if you have your own boat if you can fish here any time you like, for those days when the eddy stone is to far?

cheers
roper
