Bait collecting

definately buy as tried digging once (didnt enjoy) but will pick up shellfish as bait on estuary, seem prawns caught using an old bike wheel rim with onion sack stretched over baited with makkie, worked well

collect some of mine when tides are right n i have time, rag worm mainly
going out to get some 2morrow morning
i find digging is the best way of collecting them

Im quite lucky i spose for bait diging round my area as i think i got all baits avaliable that i need so i dig all mine....whites kings maddies and lug! limpets i only use after a blow and they are found on the beach and macks i just get out mi freezer and crabs out my traps....but if i cant get the bait myself i wont go!! shops charge far to much for what you get in my apinion......right time for another beer me thinks....as for prawns and shrimps...i tend to collect them from under the rocks at low water or net them in the swallow rockpools! dont get loads this way but plenty for a couple of use to fish a bass session!

sounds pritty lucky, all the rag you could dream of having around my area i have found now i have had abit more of a look around on the mud at low water, that is if you dare tryna stay above ground on the mud

Yep i collect prawns, mussels, worm, and peeler mostly, cant think of anything else?!

We don't get a tide as such here, only 0.5m max, so searching around rocks at low tide is deffinatly out, think i will try making a net for shrimps and just leave it out while im fishing see what happens.
Would it be best to put in deep or shallow water fer shrimps?

Shallow or deep water down the side of harbour walls would be best.

just got back now, i recon the worms must have been on holiday, i got about 15 in 1 1/2hrs
good thing i got some macky in the freezer cause my local tackle shop is shut
