not getting caught short Every year when the rays arrive up here...normally around march time the tackle shops end up selling all of their ammo sandeel and i either end up running all over south wales or using that rubbish dragon stuff or other equally soft sandeel. not this year...10 packs in the freezer!!...will buy a couple more packs at the weekend too. will be camped out on monknash this year for a good smalleyed. might be worth considering if you target anything early season using sandeel __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size

Re: not getting caught short Good point. I will have to remember to look in the freezer in the shop at the weekend. I already had a fair few blueys in my freezer up until it turned itself off for a couple of days recently. Result: Lots of useless bluey. It doesn't refreeze well does it.? ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait?

Re: not getting caught short Great advice, another good bait is predetor sandeel. I likewise stocked up my freezer last year 16pckts of ammo medium and small left out of 25pckts, blueys, squid, about 100 mackerel,40 peeler which i peeled myself, blacklug and mussel. I remember when i got in ulster shore team 05 and 06 1 more fish last session would of won me gold and a spot in home nations bummer but the guts off my fish were caught on the predetor sandeel. Tight lines. Paul

Re: not getting caught short The wife is learning fast that if it's in a white carrier bag in the left hand corner of the freezer, just don't look. It's not a meal option, it's bait.

Re: not getting caught short just a thought with regard to haveing A1 condition eels.....who takes a cool bag or cool box to the tackle shop when they buy them? just asking ........as its a great way to keep them in tip top condition, especially during the warmer months, i use a small coleman box and couple ice packs even 30 minutes out of the freezer then back in can really hurt eels.......... just a thought

use a wide neck flask...keeps them frozen till they go on the hook. ![]() also good for frozen crab and doesn't take up too much space. ...which is a godsend as some of the marks around here require a hell of a walk. __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |

Re: not getting caught short I've never taken a cool box to the tackle shop. Certainly when I'm on the beach, but never to the tackle shop. I'd never even considered it TBH. Another handy hint. ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait?
