Casting

Hi guys, got pb today old pb 161yrds, today 181yrds 175g on court, there wasnt even a drop off wind, so for my 4th time out with club im very pleased indeed, and all casts were 2-3 foot from centre off court. Happy days. Paul

Re: Casting

100 yrds from the shore is a very good cast, most off the time fish are at your feet 30-50yrds. Next time you go out fishing try two rods and pump one out as far as you can and the other at your feet a gentle chuck, 9 out off ten times its the one in close thats catching. Paul.

Re: Casting

I only have the one rod for sea fishing paul. I have an old 3lb test curve carp rod thats pretty robust could i use that as my close in line? PS i was only managing sixty yards before i got my new reel. It has gained me a good 40 yards it must be the size of the spool i guess

Re: Casting

ok paul,, if there is anyone out there that does use a stiff 3lb test carp style rod for short range i would appreciate it if they would let me know. (save me buying a second beach caster, as things are tight right now)

Re: Casting

depends on what you put in it but i would say at least four ounces probably a fox inline method feeder fully loaded would go at least 5 ounces with a sticky mix

Re: Casting

A 3lb tc will do at a push as long as you aint lobbing big leads . 5 oz is to much for it .

If your pushing 100yds with a lead and bait thats a very good cast ,if its just a overhead thump
