Re: lead v jet skis

here at seaford kitesurfers tend to stay at the tidemills area of the beach, jet skis are not allowed inside the bouyed area same as speed boats etc, the only time they r allowed in past the bouys is to land on the beach but at a speed limit of 2 knots, this seems to work for everyone, im not aware of eny acciedents in the bay,

tight lines all

Re: lead v jet skis

Am I right in thinking that its very hard for laws to be enforced, also that laws on land do not apply for people on the water? I heard somewhere that you cannot be done for Drink Boating?

Re: lead v jet skis

On the Norfolk broads you can get nicked for being drunk though I am not sure of the penalties. If you are caught being drunk in charge of a narrow boat and you are the owner ie a live abord. british waterways can take away your licence however this rule does not apply to the holliday maker. The chances of getting caught for speeding on the water are extreamly remote and need several complaints against the craft before anything is done.
How many coppers do you see with radar guns on the water. The owners of waterborn craft are a law unto their own and like Fullcreel said. It will only be a matter of time before something really seriouse happens.

Talking Re: lead v jet skis

I've found the best thing to sink the moral of a jet skier is a sand bank on a falling tide. Last year down mudeford run we saw this jet skier who apparently hadn't realised that there where other water users that wanted to use 'his' water. His escapades up & down the run where becoming a tad on the silly side till he decided to come back through the run exactly thru the spot he'd been 10 minutes ago. Although what he hadn't counted on was the fact that the tide was falling & the water being a foot or 2 ten minutes previous was down to a couple of centimetres & went a*%e over tit doing a number of front somersaults in the process. There was a tremendous uproar from the spectators on the run some holding up cards with marks out of 10 & no matter how hard he tried the tide was running fast he couldn't keep up with the tide going out trying to drag his horrendous machine back into the flow. Best thing i've ever seen a jet skier do must have been there for a good hour & a 1/2 laughing my tadgers off.

I always miss the good bits. it can be a right pain when you see something like that and you aint got a camera handy. simple moral to that one. dont flaunt the laws of mother nature. She has a nasty habit of getting her own back

Re: lead v jet skis

I keep thinking of all those gadgets the pre Daniel Craig Bond had, would be a great method for controlling these things.
