Re: eastbourne fishing

No worries wizard. Popped out at midnight last night. I had seven freezer baits left . Sea was calm like a bath tub. The frozen lug were indeed in a sorry state! Still had two hours of fun. Used a fixed paternoster with only a 3 ounce pepple lead to hold bottom. Gentle lob out turned my tripod at right angles to beach like if i was quivertipping. Result 5 whiting and the smallest rockling i have ever seen! Good fun though. Used my other spool on my penn 850 just 23lb straight through to rig body ( i was only after using up my worms and some whiting) Funny how the bites showed up so easily with the rod at right angles to where i was fishing. I will post the pic of the rockling later.

Re: eastbourne fishing

good effort!
i've only got really light tackle (made for rivers) so i like your set up. I think the strongest line on a spool i've got is only about 8lb. might need to beef up a bit.....

Re: eastbourne fishing

you need doulble that wizard. It may intrest you that i bought a load of ready made rigs from somewhere. Most of them i have six or seven the same type. If you want to save money i can sell them to you at under a quid each. All you need then is to clip on a lead and your away. Have two hook flappers 3 hook flappers etc etc they are about two pound fifty upwards in the tackle shops. You will only need a few to get you going.

Re: eastbourne fishing

just my trusty ledger rod that has seen some cracking action over the years (including mackeral bashing in loch fyne). can handle some reasonable weight but in general i'll have to keep it light.
when do you think you might get out next?
i've got my mum down over the next few days so every chance she'll look after junior for an hour or two (and keep the missus happy)
