Re: Hook Sizes I wonder if a nice richworth crab and muscle pop up might work. You never know mate! Or i could always hair rig a couple of lug. Might help me lip hook them instead of performing throat surgery. Do you rekon any carp fishing tactics would work ifd applied to sea fishing? Afterall the basic one hook flapper is only a fixed patternoster aint it. Wouldnt mind trying to catch some mullet off the top with a few chum mixers

Re: Hook Sizes Cheers paul glad you wiped the slate clean, Will be intrested in your rig posts. I have only fished with worm and sand eel. PS have most of what you reccomend above but have only fished on my own. Never seems to be any one on langley point when i go. Probably means i am fishing at the wrong times!

Re: Hook Sizes Hi could not resist so went out last night at 1 am. Tried using a 2/0 hook this time. I had six black lugs left in the fridge so i knew it would only be an hours worth of fishing. Caught 5 whiting and a baby rockling. All were lip hooked so cheers guys. Took the camera too! ![]()

Re: Hook Sizes Hook size does matter, glad my advice paid off. Also as i mentioned you were useing a size 1 and i use that for small ray and dogs etc but you were waiting for rod to bend over and the fish had long enough time to swallow hook. Even 1s are fine but if you get tap tap tap reel in time has to be sped up a notch. Nice fish well done.

Re: Hook Sizes Cheers stud see i do listen. By the way i found the bites were more positive last night. I reduced the lengths of my snoods to eight inches it deffo worked. Rodtip bent over properly even the rockling made it wobble! I think the shorter snood makes the bite more pronounced cause less stretch in it and fish gets hooked up straight away

Re: Hook Sizes Not intirely as most of my snoods range from 16" up to 3 feet long. Longer snoods work better ie 37 keepers in 1 hour 1 rod but i held rod in my hand that night as it was nuts. Next time you go i want you to try something, get some frozen mackerel and go to same spot and after mackerel has thawed out cut wee strips and put that on the hook on its own, now if you catch steady that means you are fishing it at the right time= feeding time. Check last night were you fishing when the tide was going out or coming in, then you can be ahead of the game. Also i have one rig 3 hook rig thats got 4 inch snoods and deadly when fish are on the feed at night and the cast is 20yrds. Tell me what lead were you useing mate
