First night fishing session Hi guys im thinking of going night fishing for the first time on sunday/monday ive fished many times in the day but would like any tips on things to take that i may not have thought about.I`ll be fishing alone and changing my normal rock venue to a pier or breakwater as a safety issue!! These venues dont have their own light so ive sorted a lamp and head torches out. Any replies and tips would be appreciated thank you. Neil

Re: First night fishing session " A FIRE ENGINE"! Last time i fished from a pier, at Blackpool some numpty trying to light an old oil lantern set fire to the pier, resulting in a ban on night fishing on it . Seriously, if you have not already thought of it a towel and some velcro straps to hold your rod still in the wind? Some form a eluminated bite indicator. Good look and tight lines.

Re: First night fishing session hi neil i do night fishing the same as i do in the day all i can say is rap up warm and keep warm i use a survival suit that works fine. dont know what takle and bait you use of the rocks but of a pier i would use a simple 2 hook trace with macki and lug on the bottom hook and squid and king rag on the top and on the other rod i fish a single hook with a large cocktail on it and i would put it out as far as i can thats what i use anyway and i fish two rods i would also take coffi in a flask and with a bit of luck there will be a big cod waiting for you, good luck m8 :)

Re: First night fishing session Get yourself a few tiplights, small disposable glow-sticks that you attach to the rod-tip. All tackle shops sell them, simply bend them until they click, shake them and they'll last you a night session. They usually come with tape to attach them to the rod but I prefer using a small cable-tie. Saves the battery life on your head-torch as you don't need it on all the time.

Re: First night fishing session One more thing I tend to take with me, day and night is a decent bucket (with lid), just to put all rubbish, left over bait and used traces in. You can sort them out the next day this way they don't stink out your tackle box and allows you to be both tidy and organized on the pier/beach! Oh don't forget that all important flask of coffee.....

Re: First night fishing session Great tip rob, i use a tiga headlamp and have to say its the bizz and has never let me down, but after a long session at night say a few hours and light is great up to that point, but it would start to dip say on the trip back to the jeep, not nice when fishing a rock mark. Will invest in a few glow-sticks. Nice one. ![]() ![]() ![]()
