| New to Fishing... any advice would be greatly appreciated Hi! I am new to Fishing, and this weekend I am embarking on an adventure to Cromer to do some Crabbing. I have been advised to use some smelly bait, like raw bacon, smelly fish etc. I was wondering for future trips, whether anyone could advise me on what type of fish are good to catch at this time of year? |

| Re: New to Fishing... any advice would be greatly appreciated Local tackle shops would be your best bet for advice. In the past when crabbing with handlines, an old pork chop bone, with some meat left on it was pretty good. It did not smell as bad as an old fish, and the bone gave the critters something to hold on to. Good luck. |

.. boat fishing for crabs lol...For future ref bk17 is one of the best shore anglers there is first name drew ? ![]() Go to tesco Hannah and ask for a mackerel or herring , nice and cheap and the crabs will love it..I hope once you get the bug you will invest in fishing rod and reel ( ask santa, hes coming soon ) and give shore fishing a bash.Best bet is to try your local pier as its easy access and means you will get away with the basics. Species this time of year will include whiting, codling and flounder from the harbours and estuaries.. Try and find out if there is a local fishing club or any local matches on near you and go along to find out information on locations, tactics and baits etc.. Most anglers will be only too willing to help no matter how many questions you ask so get out there, catch a fish and enjoy !! ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
