leads do peeps find they can cast further with lighter leads because of there being less drag on a lighter lead than a heavier one __________________ He who dares wins!!!!!! www.norfolkoi.co.uk (koi carp importers) Rollesby angling centre (Norfolk)15% discount for all forum members(no discount on bait)

Re: leads there is something in this delboy. I can cast a 3oz lead better than say a 5oz one. What is that about? __________________ Kia ora / Dia dhuit. - Matauranga kei ana kaha. Like many things in angling, there will always be the for's and against, pitted against personal preference.

Re: leads all depends on the make up of the rod, type of weight and what you feel comfortable with. one of my rods has a casting weight of 4-8oz, but i feel that i cast better using a 5oz weight __________________ Rough seas = Ground baiting

Re: leads kiwi it seems you are the only one who seems to know what im talking about forget balancing rods and reels and all that. what im saying you have 1 rod and 1 reel can you cast a 3 oz further than say a 6 oz i know it dont seem natural to cast an 8oz because you have to put a lot more effort in to get the 8oz moving at the right speed all rods are rated different say suitable for 4oz to 8oz but which weight can you cast the furthest or do the rest of you have a different rod and reel and line for every different weight you use??? __________________ He who dares wins!!!!!! www.norfolkoi.co.uk (koi carp importers) Rollesby angling centre (Norfolk)15% discount for all forum members(no discount on bait)

Re: leads Del - How far you can cast any weight primarily depends on the rod construction. It may be a 4 to 10 oz class rod but in between those weights it will definitely cast one weight better ( the weight it was designed to cast) - to save having to buy a rod for each weight the manufacturers give a range of weights with which it will perform. Would you try and use a rod that will cast 1 oz over the horizon perfectly to try and cast 8 oz ? __________________ * <0((fluff))< " 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water "

Re: leads agree with del here i prefer 4 oz weights and often struggle when go up a weight, when feathering I always drop to a 3 as can go further? and dont get knackered so quickly, and it dosent seem to matter which rod? odd __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go...and if you do go please let us know :D

Re: leads I find i get most distance with a 5oz lead, thats with my 4-5oz rod and 5-6oz rod. You have to be able to compress the rod, if you can do this then anything upto 6oz you should be able to cast comfortably. If im mackeraling il use a 2-3oz to save my arms wearing out
