Winds and their effect I am thinking of a session on the coast on sunday, the met office says the winds will be from the north west and gusting into the 20's, so methings somewhere like burton bradstock might be worth a go. Can anyone tell me how the wind effects the sea fishing.

Re: Winds and their effect Better off fishing after a blow , the higher winds/bigger surf will stir up the bottom bringing in more food , you will then find the fish coming in to find it , A good surf produces bass ,Where were you planning to go to

Re: Winds and their effect It will be somewhere on the south coast between portland and Beer, thats within comfortable driving range. I thought that the cliff at Burton Bradstock would give us shelter from the wind.

Re: Winds and their effect Charmouth /Lyme Regis look good for shore fishing this weekend. Wind against tide should give a good chop. Poppers 4TW!

Re: Winds and their effect The pressure tends to affect fishing more than the wind, fishing during a high pressure can push fish further from the shore to find food, as worms tend to burrow deeper during a high, there are alot of things that the high pressure brings for example easterly winds if the high tends to be over the north sea, low pressure tend to move in from the south west and tend to be associated with westerly winds, just after these is better for shore fishing for the reasons stated above, this is only my humble opinion.

Re: Winds and their effect Not sure where we'll wind up, might try charmouth as I have not fished there before, and can do some fossilling if the fish don't want to co-operate.
