Plugs and poppers! Hey How do you fish with plugs and poppers properly? Some of them seem to be too light to cast out properly, would you use weights at all? Confused!!!!! Gwyds Wynn

Re: Plugs and poppers! It all depends where you wish to fish with plugs and wheather they are the best thing for where you are fishing. Porthmadog would need a considerably different approach to th Bangor end of the Menai Straights which would again be different from the Menai Bridge Area and Cearnarfon end of Menai Straights.

Re: Plugs and poppers! As the it is open sea personally I would fish a jointed plug with no additional weight, I would only use plugs that were heavy enough. A method that can also work in the Hells Mouth area is to float fish a 4" white 'red gill' under a bubble float.

Re: Plugs and poppers! Cheers. I mainly fish off rocks in the Ysgaden area, I've had most of the catches with red gills, spinners etc, but only had a single bass all year! Thought maybe plugs and poppers wold increase my chances for more bass! Still, have landed pollock up to 7lbs several times, there's some exellent spots in the Lleyn!

Re: Plugs and poppers! If you are plug or lure fishing this time of year you will need these to illuminate themselfs against the surface. If bait fishing in your area you would need edible peeler as this is the bait they want. Lleyn Pennisular is very simmilar to the Gower Pennisular, just there are a few more species.
