just bought me a new reel

hey all i just got me a penn surfmaster 850 reel from ebay, read a few good reviews on it being a low cost effecient reel and cant wait to give it a whirl as soon as it arrives, has anyone got one and what would ya give the reel marks outta 10?

Hiya butty,ive read all the bad write ups about them,regarding the bail arm release springs.

ive had a pair of 850s for 6mths now ,lifted rays up rock faces and hounds with no probs.

nice reels,nice line lay and nice casting

and i dont work for PENN.lol

Rays .....you sure crabs , mike is very good on eggbeaters , if he says they are a good reel then they are ,

I use one myself. Use it paired up with my old Conoflex. Not had any problems with it. Great casting reel too. I like the fact that you get two metal spools, not the usual plastic (Sorry Graphite) spare...

well thanks everyone for the heads up, gave the reel a go last week and i was well pleased with it, only caught a couple of doggies but twas a good evening!
