Bait fish feathers I may be about to make a fool ouit of myslf, but are bait fish feathers smaller than mackeral feathers? I guess they are used to catch sand eels? I have lots of coarse hooks and though I could make up some on size 10/12/14? bits of silver tinsel etc, worth it? Any idea's??

Re: Bait fish feathers I would say it's worth a shot. Here, we use very (size 12) small Sabiki or Hokkai type lures for the Herring in the winter months. Also good for catching Smelt and Sandeels.

Re: Bait fish feathers Fully agree with Vicfisher, i use those sizes of hooks with a few white feathers and a little silver tinsel added tied in fly fisher style, and yes you will get loads of takes from Launce and small pollack.
