| Sonik 3? Hi all I am taking casting lessons and am looking into getting a new rod as i managed to snap my penn nomad at the spigot!!!!! Just wanted to run a few things by you guys and pick your brains if thats cool? Firstly my penn is only a yr or so old, is it worth sending it back to penn to repair or will it cost to much to do this ( will they do it for free cos of it`s age???) Also i have earmarked about 130 quid to get a new rod with. I was looking at the sonik 3 13 ft beachcaster as i have heard good things about this. Anyone got one or know what they are like ( are they stiff so much you have to be a body builder to compress ect ? ) and i am also open to other suggestions. I am of slight build so cant have a broom handle type zippy. Most of my fishing is in quite strong tidal beaches so would be needed to lob out 8 oz plus whole squid. Hi joe I must admit i was tieing with the idea of buying a sonik but a multiplyer version until someone told me that they new of someone who had one and it snapped,i,m not so confinsed as i have read good reports in sea angler etc. they seem like good rods to me and i would of been happy to get one. but instead i opted for a daiwa supercast sts13m which can lob a 8oz lead and holds well in strong tides . I would advise to do some research before buying |

There has been a few reported snapping , but the amount of soniks sold , the good ones far out weigh the bad ones  , i have 2 that ive had a year now and they have coped with double figure hounds and lbs and lbs of weed , im not the greatest caster in the world but can chuck a lead far enough to put a bend in the rod and they have held out very well  , i know a few people who own soniks and have had no problems  __________________ If Everyday things are getting you down & stressing you out, Think like a Dog, If it cant be Eaten or Humped, Piss on it and walk away.. |
