Did you buy it from the States Richard?

If so, expect to get hit with Duty on the purchase price minus shipping charges and then VAT on the whole lot with duty added.

A tip for anyone buying from the US, keep your purchase to under £18 excluding the shipping charge to stay free of the duty. Royal Mail will also charge approx. £4 to clear it from customs. Better to buy within the EU as no duty will be levied.

Nice one. I have a 6500 CT coming in from florida this weekend with a friend, plus lures and braid. Soooooo much cheaper.

I remember reading somewhere that Daiwa have just launched some nice new beachcaster that are forgiving, but still perform well. I'll have a look through my mags to see if I can find the article. Shakespeare actually make good rods, IMO. I think you could do a lot worse than one of theirs.

I have an Abu Conolon 13' that I love, but it is a little on the stiff side and you need to wind it up a fair bit, but I'm a big guy so it is a little more forgiving for me I think. My 13 year old son tried using it once... Nuff said.
