Can anyone reccemend a good book

Can anyone reccemend a book that deal with basic questions suchs how species act seasonally, how they react to weather, such what to aim for in bright conditions? questions like that. How the fish behave when the inshare is churned up after a blow?

Hello,
I'm into angling books and I must say that the books of the last 20 years or so are mostly the author's way of 'How I catch fish' , rather than an attempt to put down on paper what really goes on under the surface.

I'd like to suggest that you get the following books:

1) 'Operation Sea Angler' by Mike Ladle, Harry Casey and Terry Gledhill. It is absolutely fascinating how these 3 guys studied the effects of various conditions and the natural fish food along the south coast, and through their 'thinking' approach and a lot of fishing, came up with some principles for various species that make a lot of sense. It was published in the 80s and reprinted once, and commands a price of double what an average new fishing book costs, but it's content is worth much more than 2 modern books about celebrity anglers etc. If your library can't get you a loan copy, drop me a PM and I might be able to sell you my spare copy.

2) 'Bass and BASS' compiled and published for the BASS society by Geoff Gonella. This book is all about the bass and how it behaves, breeds, feeds, travels etc, as well as the many methods for fishing for it. Just as 'The Book of the Perch' is the bible for freshwater perch fishers, this has fast become the one-and-only book of the bass. But I'm biased, I was involved in it. See www.anglersbookcase.com for details.

3) On a general sea fishing note, a new book is due to be published soon by the Medlar Press, I think it's called 'Modern Sea Fishing', by Phil Arnott. Phil has a lifetime's knowledge of match and pleasure fishing for all species and he certainly knows all about methods and baits. I'm looking forward to when this one comes out, because I know that Phil will be concentrating on what the fish do and how to maximise your chances.

Hope this helps.
