Re: Help please ! Got 1 reply for someone already on site, but was too brief with my limited expertise on this! Guy siad to use Peeler crab and rag worm, but i need more info on how to fish it,believe there is mackrel,Doggies(whatever they are!),Conger,Rock Cod etc,i really have no clue on this!

Re: Help please ! Feather would be good for the kids to do, for the Mackrel. If your doing worm off the bottom you'll be pulling (doggies) out Dogfish, and i'd rather not there horible part of the shark familly skin like sand paper.

Re: Help please ! i would say kiddies with mackie feathers or light wieght small hook and tiny bit of rag, catch loads. you could use peeler, or even a storm shad after a cod, or even a smooth houhnd if they come in there

Re: Help please ! If you are going after mackeral use feather lures with a 2 or 3 oz weight and simply cast and retrieve. When the shoals are in the kids will easily catch them as mackies will take most lures. Where are you staying up there? I stayed at Morvich caravan club site a couple of years ago and fished loch duich near Eilean Donan Castle and at the nearby town of Kyle of lochalsh. Also skye is just across the bridge so there are plenty of safe places to put a rod into the water. The best advice is when you get there ask the locals as it seemed there were people fishing everywhere when i was there. If you keep a couple of mackies you could use them as bait either as flappers for conger eels or use the fillets for cod doggies spurdogs etc. When i fished there i caught cod, conger, wrasse and dogfish. Dogfish take mackie strips but when you catch them curl the tail around to the head and hold the tail and head together before unhooking as their skin is rough and will take the skin of your wrist if they wrap around it. Would liked to have fished the area more when we were there but tended to walk more as the scenery is spectacular, so if you find some good marks mind to let us all know how you did. Regards Brian.
