New Rod - Any Thoughts

Hi all, I gave up on the idea of using my Avon rod for spinning mainly due to the length as most of my opportunities will be holidays, family days out etc. Anyway I made a bit of an impulse buy as I found an offer that fits my needs and just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or knew the rod. I've just received it today and well pleased with the way they look but can't find any reviews on the rod and as it's my first I don't have anything to compare. Rod - Cortland CX Spin 10' 20-50g 4 piece travel in tube. Reel - Mitchell Avocet 11 s-6000r Berkley Trilene 12lbs 330yd £56 delivered from http://www.garryevans.co.uk/cortland...eel-3060-p.asp Cheers Chris

Re: New Rod - Any Thoughts

Hi Fatfish,
I did think about braid and and have read about the positives & some negatives of using it (until you know what your doing). I decided to start with mono which is what I know for now (don't even know how to tie braid) and see how things go. It's been years since I fished and never spinning in the sea so I thought it best to try and keep things simple to start with. Just ordered some basic spinners/lures today so I'll be all set to go.
