| Trolling for Grouper hi :) my first post here, i hope i can finally get some answers... i live in lebanon and ive been trying to troll for grouper here in the med in depths of around 40m but somehow i cant get it right. at around 6 knots (a very successful local fisherman told me that speed) i just cant get the lure that deep. i let the lure(deep diving rapala) down with a homemade cannonball sinker (900 grams) but no matter how much line i let out it wont touch down (or does it...??) sometimes i think i may have been dragging lure and sinker over the bottom, since when i tried the same at 20 meters, it suddenly got caught on the bottom and the lure came up extremely scratched, but before the snag i never noticed any bouncing of the weight on the bottom. how can i get my lure that deep, without a downrigger, and at that speed? and why cant i see my rod tip or the drag reacting when the lure or maybe even the sinker drags over the bottom? what are your methods/rigs/trolling speed for grouper trolling? any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance |

| Re: Trolling for Grouper I think you may struggle for some good advice about Groper on this forum as most of the members on here fish in UK waters were there is no Groper fishing in the UK.(I could be wrong but i think not) Why not do a Google search on Groper fishing you may have more luck. __________________ Chill it's only fishing |
