Muddman is on a distinguished road
Talking finally, I got fishin'

[size="3"]I finally succumbed to all the shineynes and gear I had stored in the kitchen until my my confidence arrived, and got some bait - herring, and loaded up with a carfull of gear, walked the 2 miles to to the beach and set up.
And it was great, my forst few casts were entative, but the knots held, and I had some bites.
All was good, even better than I remembered, I even caught[ a breakaway lead and a rig! I was AHEAD.
The next cast cost me a cod rig, weight and my shockleader. It was very frustrating, as I had cast into the same spot I had been in all day.
It was on the turn of the tide.
After that I called it a day, no fish, but I gained confidence and was relatively happy with how my first trip in 20 years went.
I broke even on gear, got some bites, didn't hook or cut myself, and can't wait to again.
Anyone know where I can get a beach donkey for my gear?/SIZE]

Re: finally, I got fishin'

Well done for getting out Mudman - 2 mile walk to the beach..... that is an awfull long way for a first trip.
I would have probably done something daft like left the bait in the car & had to walk back & get it.

The car solution is an option - or would be IF I could afford to keep one on the road! Am after a trolley to make life a bit easier...
Besides, I'd rather be on the beach than in a traffic jam any day.
