bare in mind - i'm not a successful bass angler. i know sod all about norway. .if global warming continues bass will extend their range northward as the smoothound have done round here. q1, salt water , rocky headlands, flat sandy beaches(after a storm is best i hear.) , estuarys, steep shingle beaches. they're active hunters and will go to where there's food.shallow water does not put them off but they can be shy, minimum noise & keep lights off/shielded from the water at night. generally strong tides , and lumpy seas q2, like most sea fish they will eat anything, for larger specimens fish baits, whole squid or pealer crab work well worm baits tend to target smaller fish. q3, depends where the food is.- will hunt close inshore along the surf line for food items disturbed by a storm or strong tide on beaches or rocky headlands. will feed under a shoal of bait fish like mackerel feeding on white bait, (bigger bass will be after a mackerel.) will hunt offshore reefs, wrecks, & gravel banks. mainly smaller fish inhabit estuarys but larger ones show here especially when hunting pealer crab or when ragworms are spawning. q4, sorry i don't lure fish much, at a guess match colours /size to what they may be feeding on , 4-8 inch? , silvers/ mackerel stripes, various jellys work well offshore lead added above the lure spooks them i'm told. q5, ? boat, rig- long flowing trace, snood 4ft - as much as you can handle give the bait or lure plenty of movement. whole live mackerel good choice. beach -its more important not to spook them if fishing close. i choose pulley pennels/ up n overs/ or good old flowing traces. big tides seem more productive. hopeing t' see a piccy of ya with a 10lber soon ![]() __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: Help!! The bass are here and i want em def predatory, my beach pb went only 6 1/2 lb, but that had scoffed a whole 10 inch macky b4 it picked up my bait. the only one i've landed on a live bait took a 5- 6inch pout and that was just a 2lber. saying that its not big bait big fish, ive had ,and seen good fish taken on much smaller baits. location & conditions should be top of the list. i once saw a prog' on telley about fishing somewhere in scandinavia, it showed a guy lure fishing off rocks where a tide race ran between him & a small island. i thought 'that looks bassy' but he was hauling out coalies one after the other, i wern't jelous- much ![]() __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: Help!! The bass are here and i want em You have queit a few rip tides that are well known in norway but I agree with you coalfish can become boring very quickly here. I am always looking for something new to target. this year it has been sea trout which I started this week, have landed 6 so far, bigest 77cm and now in the oven is one of 55 cm. baking it with leek, butter, fresh dill, garlic and lemon juice.cant wait. ![]() ![]() |

, the 'not jelous - much'. was a bit tonge in cheek .there are no coalies on my patch just a few from the deep water wrecks mid channel, cornwall show a few small ones from the rocks here and there, i hear. i'd luv t catch them like he was, as he was pulling out 8-10 lbers consistantly. but i recon if the bait fish are shoaling along that type of tide rip , thats where i'd look for a bass . btw, the sea trout sounds tastey good luck. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: Help!! The bass are here and i want em use live bait, live sea trout mite catch you some or pouting, use it at night, cracking bait. or use small squid, mackeral or ragworm and limpet. oh yeah, one more bluddy cracking bait is garfish, bass can feed bottom mid surface but when using dead baits fish the bottom |
