Scales Hi, I bought these http://www.tackleuk.co.uk/mustad-ang...ale-p-611.html a while ago, and there absolutly rubbish, as most of the fish i catch are around a pound they barely budge, but i still want to be able to wieght relatively heavy fish just in case. Is it generally the case that heavy weight scales are very inacurate for small fish? I thought i wud go for a lighter wieght digi one next time. like this http://www.seafishingsupplies.co.uk/...roducts_id=390 or this http://www.seafishingsupplies.co.uk/...oducts_id=2459. Will these more acurate, anyone want to reccomend anything else? Cheers, Saul

Re: Scales That's quite an important thing if you are bothered about fish weights/records etc. Personally, it doesn't matter to me .... but I claimed a 4-1-0 plaice from the shore several years ago; weighed on my Salters spring thingy and witnessed etc. I went to the pub after and Nick (Landlord, then) put it on his certified and tested scales at 4-4-0. Still, some company/mag was good enough to send me £120 worth of Rapalas (for the witnessed 4-1-0) ... so there you are! I'm sure digi is the way to go if you are interested in that sort of thing. If I get a good fish these days (boat or shore, I generally put it back). ![]() Up to you what you do; but records etc need a set of scales which are certified.

Re: Scales i've a shakespeare dial scale ,weighs up to 36lb in 1 oz increments. works for me but i rarely bother weighing anything under about a pound anyway. ( read as= havn't needed to weigh anything at all for months, bar the cats) if it broke tomorrow i'd buy a decent set of digital scales coz they're smaller/lighter and a lot less hassle to drag about. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.

Re: Scales rite thanks, so if i went for the rapala one in a 50lb, would it still be able to wieght fish of about 1 or 2 pounds pretty acuratly or shud i use the 15lb ones and just dont bother weighing any monsters...

Maybe I shud just go for the 15lb one, doubt i'll be catching many fish over that tbh... Beauty of a fish by the way! |

Re: Scales I bought the repala 50lb and had the 15lb ones give to me for a birthday 2 weeks later. so far, up to 4lb (sadly my biggest ever fish) they give the same readings. so i'd say the 50s should do you.

Re: Scales We used to sell 15, 50 and 100lb Rapala Scales. I got a set of the 50lb and work great for even small fish. They are in exacty the same increments. My one regret was not getting the heavier ones, Just in case I catch a big Tope or Conger ( I can but dream) __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk
