sea license

my dad was telling me that soon i will need a sea license to fish on the beach and piers. He said that he friend is a member of a sea angling club and he was told the same. That 250 people in the northeast has been employed to patrol the coast for licenses and catch unlicensed people. IS this true as if i got to buy my rod license for freshwater then i have to buy one for sea thats abit of a joke.

Re: sea license

I for one hope that it never happens. It occurs to me that the words "freedom of choice" is something that this and future governments are trying to take away from the Great British people !!.

Re: sea license

My main concern are for kids that can't afford a license so instead choose the most remote and dangerous places to fish to avoid an inspector.

At least on a pier wall they are much safer.

Re: sea license

yes that is very true also the fishing tackle shop were in the summer holidays the get alot of buisness with people buying gear for them and there kids to go fishing on jetis and peirs.like my dad did for my little bro he spent 50 pounds on rod reel line ect and he hasnt been again but my dad said well we can always spend a day fishing.but now if he has to buy a license to go fishing once in a blue moon its abit pointless people will just not bother fishing at all.

Re: sea license

The goverment may want to impose another tax on us, policing it would cost more than the income gained.
