Braid on multipliers??

Just some opinions really....

I have just purchased some braid for my Pike outfit as I was really impressed with how it fished on someone elses kit a couple of Months ago. I am thinking about putting braid on my sea kit as well...but a couple of questions first!?

Is anyone using braid for beach casting on a multiplier?
If so do you find a higher percentage of overruns?
Do you use backing line to bulk the spool out prior to filling with braid?

I am looking to cut my line diameter down to help hold bottom on some of the stronger tides up on the Bristol Channel.

Any thoughts, experience, comments are appreciated!

Re: Braid on multipliers??

If you get an over run with braid on a multiplier then it will be almost impossible to untangle the birds nest, with mono you can usually rescue the nest. I use it on boat rod with a multiplier but I do not uptide with it. It can be rather expensive if you can't untangle it. Give it a try from the beach and find out yourself. As it is much better for bite detection, cuts through the current more easily and will enable you to hold the bottom better. You will need to use a decent shock leader.

Re: Braid on multipliers??

I have braid on my shore outfit. What. Would recomend is to use a tappered leader so u have some give I the cast as there is still alot of mono on the reel. Braid is only used for long distance work tho as the bites are easier to see.
