Fishing At Distance Hi all.... I have read a number of threads that refer to the fish being 'at distance'...In terms of distance what is the general opinion on this? How far is far? Glancing up and down the coast at my fellow fisherman I am yet to see a bait being sent much past 50-75yds? Your thoughts/comments are appreciated!

Re: Fishing At Distance As far as I'm concerned, 75 yards is a good cast, but I do know some guys that can put a baited trace a long way. I'd guess that 150 yards isn't out of the question if you've got a good technique. Thing is, distance isn't the be all and end all of fishing. A nice extra "weapon" to have, but far from the most important aspect. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait?

Re: Fishing At Distance I sometimes have the need to cast over 150 yrds as that is where the the fish are . Other times just a gentle lob of 30/40 yds is enough . walk the beach at low and make a mental not of where the gullies and othe food holding places are. ![]()

Re: Fishing At Distance My patch produces plaice and cod (seasonally) in a feeding band from 90 - 120m ... you need to hit this band to catch these fish consistently. If you continue to fish this distance with static baits all year, you'll miss out on a lot of species. Given the freedom to 'pleasure fish' a venue, put 'scratching rigs' at variable distances and alter your future strategies to fit (and learn).
