Torbay Beaches Hi all Just looking for information on fishing beaches in Torbay. Do any of the local guys fish Torre Abbey, Ansteys Cove, Preston, Paignton,Livermead and Meadfoot etc. There's a lot of mixed ground and the fishing must be pretty good. Any feed back on these beaches and their potential would be great. I ask as I want to concentrate on them this winter and see what they produce. Thanks

Re: Torbay Beaches Torre Abbey itself is normally fished from right at the start of the pier or along the promenade. You then cast into deeper water than you can on the beach (plus no annoying dogs off leads munching all your bait. Ansteys cove I've never heard a report on so can't comment on that one. Preston may be interesting but I'd give it another few weeks yet. Paignton sea front is the same as Torre Abbey; lots of dogs off leads and other annoying things. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone fish it to be honest. Livermead because of the rocks can be interesting but often isn't. Meadfoot I love. Unless you’re fishing thunderhole be prepared to lose a lot of tackle. The rocks at meadfoot are lethal and razor sharp. For the best places see my site (in sig) __________________ Simon "4 Rods" TorbayFishing.Com - Beginners guide to sea fishing, news, reviews & more!

Re: Torbay Beaches yes fish the summer months mainly float fish live prawn or sandeel at the rocky end of torre abbey for bass mackeral wrasse dogfish whiting and pouting caught there at night on ledgered sandeel or macky strips the same thing goes for preston fish the slipway at preston where the road bares left to the guest houses they catch bass here peeler seems to work best but im sure if you tried other baits you willl pick them up. and like simon says meadfoot is a good beach but local knowledge is essential because if you land in the wrong spot it can cost alot of tackle. i have heard that if you fish just next to the pier (paignton harbour side of the pier) there is a freshwater outlet in the sand 30-50 yrds out and that is also a good spot for the bass but i have never fished it. in the next few days once this storm dies back and the beaches become 'fishable' again then i would try goodrington broadsands somewhere around that area with razor fish peeler crab or worm for the bass. these long beaches produce the best surf and usually attract the largest numbers of bass __________________ fishing for fish is not as simple as you may think!
