another eventful trip things started briliently this morning when i finaly got down to the beach only to find i had left half my gear at home, my rig wallet, my spare line, my spare reel, half my weights, 1st aid kit, rag and plastic bags but i decide i could stay, i had 2 rigs with me which i hadnt put in the rig wallet from yesterdays trip and enough weights to keep me happy, so everything was good carried on testing of the smart bait crab stuff, with no luck and also had squid n sand ell towards the end of my trip with nothing to show for my efforts i decided to make up 1 final super bit of bait consisting of a squid stuffed with 2 bits of the crab stuff, 3 sand ells, and some sliper limpits i found on the beach, this was all wraped up into a bindel n then the sides were slit went to cast out n it all suddenly felt very heavy, i looked upto see my bag with the rest of my bait in flying over my head followed by my weight, after retrieving my empty bait bag i decided it was time to head home but i did learn something from this trip i think i have found a major desing fault in most of my rigs if not all of em, the bottom hook is positioned to close the weight, i always used to think you had to get the bottom hook right up against the weight, so i ahve been doing so but i have realised today that the hook always gets tangled __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's Last edited by Fishing Forum Admin; 10-24-2004 at 10:29 PM.

Hi Ben, I use 2 up 1 down rigs for match fishing and i always slip a piece of rig tube on the bottom snood before i tie the hook on, make sure it is long enough to reach the lead grips and this will stop any tangles.

Re: another eventful trip though about that, but quite alot of my rigs have booms on n they were still getting tangled so i thought a change of plan was in order __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's

Re: another eventful trip hey ben if the boomed rigs are all tangling then its probably the snood material thats at fault. As we were discussing the day before yesterday Amnesia is a snood material which is apparently memory free. This means it does not easily kink up and therefore tangles are drastically minimised. another cause for snood tangles can be the shape of the bait. If a fillet of mackerel is not shaped making it more streamlined it will wobble during the cast - this wobbling action wraps the snood around the rig before it even hits the water.
