| Trolling after heavy rains Question for the collective wisdom of this forum: Is it better to troll in 300-1000 ft of water directly after a few days of heavy rains (have a six line spread with ilanders, mann's, dusters, yozuri) or is it better to wait a few days A friend of mine says there is too much fresh water at the surface, but I've been under the impression that as soon as the clouds part, get out there Mainly looking at catching wahoo, tuna and dolphin Thanks in advance AE |

| Re: Trolling after heavy rains Hey there. Sorry, canīt give you a definitive answer, on account that i have not done much trawling. But I did work on fishing trawlers for a few years (long-line and prawn) and the weather never really played much of a part in what was caught. The prawns dissapeared over the full moon, but that was about it. With the long-lining I canīt remember weather where we werenīt catching fish. Obviously, in a big storm, we had to set the lines deeper than if it was fine weather. Mostly we spent our time trying to figure out the area the fish were going to be in, rather than the weather. Logic would suggest that if you are fishing in 1000ft of water, then rain shouldnīt be a problem. I would get out there and give it a go and i would be really interested to hear how it went. best of luck. |
