| an incredible catch me and my mate went fishing deep inside an estury the other day, we were fishing for wrasse and my mate pulled up a 2 1/2 pound codling! it was no where near the open sea so i wondered what that cod was doing in there! at least it tells us that the season has arrived! so anybody wanting to know about cod down in cornwall, i just want to say they are here! ![]() __________________ never think fishing at distance is better, alot of the time fish are only a few metres out, you just dont realise it |

| Re: an incredible catch Incidentally, in answer to your question steve - if the has enough salinity in it for wrasse to be present then a codling will be more than happy... the codling are probably feeding on peeler crabs or mussels - i too have witnessed an undersize codling caught deep within my local estuary - only seen the one and fished that mark more than anywhere else... i know that they catch cod (up to about 7lb) from the Torridge estuary - it is even worth targetting them in this estuary (remember a sea angler article from a few years ago). hope this helps.. |

| Re: an incredible catch thanks for the info mate, i should have thought about that one! and it was hayle estuary. most of its sand, but there are some pits where it is teaming with fish. thats why the cod was caught at low tide. there is alot of water even at the lowest tide, which is good because you can fish there all the time. __________________ never think fishing at distance is better, alot of the time fish are only a few metres out, you just dont realise it |
