Re: Hello all Hello all, thanks for the welcoming, Had my first shore cod trip last wednesday off cambois pier, managed to get 3 cod, biggest about 3 and a half pound. Conditions were perfect, massive sea caused by the easterly winds. Unfortunately ran out of lug after 2 hours, could only get 3 bags from tackle shop. After that I fished rag and didnt get a bite, just shows how important luhworm is up here. Anyway I was surfing the net and came across seabait website, got a feature on there about new farmed lugworm that will be available soon. They will sell in same way as the rag, sold in packs of worms with specific sizes. I emailed them and it is appears that it will not be ready till next year (having a few problems with scaling up from small batch to large). However that should hopefully allow some of the lugworm beds up here to recover. Has anyone seen the rodney carter cod video? On there he digs some lugworm on a beach that has millions of casts, wish there was something like that over here, lol. Also someone was telling me next week is going to be the first cold snap of the winter, should bring in a few more cod and slow the crabs down. Michael

Re: Hello all right mate, up here the most highly rated place iv heard of is steetly pier in hartlepool. the only problem is (as me and a few freinds found out a couple of weeks ago) the peir is still used by the factory or whatever it is behind it, so you have to do a bit of rambo style fence scaleing (not too hard if you have a good headlight) then sneek round the plant to the start of the pier. there is a gate half-way along the peir, if thats shut and locked turn around. oh i forgot to mention the peir goes a mile and a quarter out to sea, that means the walk to the gate is over half a mile, then add the fence scaleing etc its a bit of a trek, but well woth it if you can get to the end, straight down into deep water. never heard of a bad report from it. pm me if you want more info on this mark or any others around the north-yorkshire/hartlepool way, ill gladly help. hope this helps, Ralph

Re: Hello all welcome depending on which part of the north east you are here in sunderland there is a large lug worm bed in whitburn or boulmer is good if you are north or redcar dont know what it is called but would give directions if you want as for fishing the area oround seaham is fishing well at the mo but heard today that someone caught 31 codling at hendon docks unfortunatly you are not supposed to fish there so whetherits true or not remains to be seen
