To Cod … a prayer

Dear Cod father,

It has been some months now since I last caught a Cod and I would like to send out a small prayer to you in the hope that one day soon, it might be answered.

I have been doing my chores and completing my tasks, earning enough brownie points to get time off for good behaviour, so I can fulfil a life’s ambition and catch a decent shore caught Cod. It needn’t be huge just a small double will do.

I have been working tirelessly in practising my long distance casting technique, rig making, hook sharpening, bait collecting and reel cleaning and I hope I have put in enough hours on the shore last year, for you to grant me my one wish…. A double figure Cod.

If your Codlyness would grant an answer to my prayers and I fulfil my dream, I will post my joyousness on the Fishing Forum, for all the fellow sea anglers out there to gasp at the wonderment of Cod fishing and we will all sing our praises to thee, in the hope that we will follow in each others footsteps.

I hope this is not too much to ask, as I know an exhaustive list often offends.

Looking forward to a positive reply, I remain forever indebted to you.

Hi Juan,

Yes I did, i'm bored at work first day back and still not into the swing of things, keep thinking of lost Tuna and Cod fishing, Bass, Smoothound, Rays, Cod, Tuna, Bass and more Rays. Oh and of course Smoothounds!

Just a bit of fun to brighten the day up!

A Prayer for "John Boy".

Dear Cod,

We wish to pray for the safe passage of “John Boy” a fellow sea angler from Kent (we understand this to be somewhere near to France) who will be on his way to the land of those people who you have given the name of Welsh and who are of good heart and spirit and voice. (Shame about the Rugby and Football!)

John Boy asks that the Welsh coast receive a “Good Blow” and in your Codvine sight grant a period of stillness so that John Boy may hail lead weights upon thee with large baits a following. And the Cod of Wales throw themselves at him with Gusto and Vigour and then after a period of joyousness he may be granted a visa to return from whence he came Victor and Glorious.

Not too much to ask don’t you think?

perhaps a plea to the unpredictable bristol channel requesting that no dodgy swells attack him and that thick forests of floating weed do not encumber the welsh fishing experience is also necessary.

Don't worry it'll be like a mantra by the time I get there ... I shall get my partner in crime to recite it, before he leaves Honk Kong, just in case the good lord is in the far east on vacation!
