Lightbulb 'the mackerel march'.

As usual my mind wandered off on thoughts of angling this afternoon,(bare wi me, this is gonna ramble on abit but there is a point to it, well maybe)

i thought;- when i fish i always go about it the same way.
ie- select baits and venue plonk myself on a beach and wait for something to happen(or not)

but inspired by chucking a dexter about on n off for an hour or 2 the other week and thoroughly enjoying the light line fishing, may be more of this sort of thing would be good.
and so i thought some more ,
so for exersize and mobility i don't really want to be fishing the same spot all the time but i also don't want to be continuously driveing between venues .

and so the concept of the mackerel march came into fruition-

plz, bare in mind that i'm only just thinking about it and for such purposes havn't considered that i'm not an ironman contender or even perticularly fit.

and so this is the extreme plan,
arrive at abbottsbury 6am, take a good drink of water and load a rucksack with -camera,(pain killers) more water,/ sarnie box / spare spool/ assorted lures and a couple of small leads/ hooks etc .
then hit the beach with a spinning rod n reel and then in a leisurely fashion alternately fish or walk left or take a break and bottom fish/smoke fag/eat sarnies till about midday or i get to ferry bridge, whichever comes first .
then return in the same manner.

prob a bit too extreme for me and would result in exaustion/dehydration/death.

2 questions?- how far from abbotsbury- ferry bridge along the shingle.
and how long (roughly) to walk it?

ok, so that might be a bit much-
as an alternate, burton bradstock to bexy, that should be shorter.
or along the milford bank to the castle and back, thats easy, i've just not fished on the way b4.

, or maybee i'll just stick to being lazy and park me bivvy on a beach somewhere.

Re: 'the mackerel march'.

sounds a good enough plain to me. After all you need to find the fish and not the fish find you

Re: 'the mackerel march'.

Should be good Gord. As long as you take it easy, and have all the essentials can't see it being a problem

Re: 'the mackerel march'.

Sounds fun - does the flat sandy bit at the bottom of the shingle that is uncovered at low tide go all the way?
Makes for easier walking it it does.
Don't forget to take your taxi fare to get back to the car in case the blisters ar too bad.
Let us know what the anglers who carted all their kit 2 miles, to get away from the feather flingers, call you

Good luck.
P.
