Exclamation Effect of Fuel Prices on Anglers

There has been a noticeable shift lately in Sydney back to "Land Based" (LB) fishing. It has long been a favorite with coastal Rock fishermen as a lot of rock platforms on the Sydney sandstone tend to be flat, and close in boat fishing to the rocks is not always safe or practical. But boats have always been the favoured way of locating Estuary and coastal fish. LB fishers were always the 'poor relations',but now there is a great revival in this style of fishing.Parts of the Harbour where acess to deep water and good fish can be caught have started to become very crowded. I have even seen a group of Asian fishermen arrive at a popular city wharf in a Taxi ,as the parking is impossible in there.... Also since a series of fatal accidents involving Ferries and other vessels on the Harbour near or under the Bridge ,this area has been put 'off limits' to boat anglers, and this in turn has improved the fishing ! I was wondering what effect ,if any,the high price of fuel is having on your choices in particular and on UK fishing in general ?

At 72p a litre it hasn't stopped us yet, but the cost of each trip is a talking point now, as our trips are a hundred miles plus.

Good luck with the Tuna.

The wrecks we fish are 30 to 50 miles out, as all fishing is on the drift engine is never turned off, playing with container ships and tankers is a "no-no" hence the fuel bill.

on Saturday 31/5 it was 77.8 a litre and we burnt £137.38,

About time Gorden has a re-think before we're all out of work.
