| Re: Ray fishing. ideally , i find night time best although they will show in daylight if the water is well coloured. calm conditions are best on most venues , though the best tide state and moon phase varies from venue to venue . as for most species i recon a big bright moon in a clear sky kills the fishing on most shallow venues, especially late autumn. with most fishing its right place at the right time, catch reports will help but remember by the next week the tide cycle will have changed . my most successful rigs have been- flowing trace or pulley. but theres a lot to be said for a up n over. baitwise i'd go for worm n fish or squid n fish cocktails . sandeel seems to be prefered by smalleyes and spotties but i don't think they are that fussy , its worth thinking about which natural foods will be about for them coz thats what they will be looking for. i tend to give them just a little time to take the bait especially if its a large bait, experience helps here. but too much time on a small bait might result in a deeply hooked fish. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
