| Where are the Pollock? Fishing the wrecks out of Pompey it seems the pollock are mostly small, biggest around 10lb and not in numbers. Could it be they are now being fished as a replacement for cod? and haven't made it this far up the channel.  Re: Where are the Pollock? I've seen a few cookery programmes lately where Celbrity Chefs are using undersize fish as small as three inches as a base for French style fish soups & stews. From the supermarket side of things custmors dont want cod as they now understand that its on its knees stock wize so the demand is pollock and sale are almost the same as cod now . Just wish they understood that pollock will not with stand this and will be in big trouble very soon. Supermarkets are move big time to farmed fish but this takes time to set up and get right. Hey rich - better late than never using farmed fish - and at least the trouble of the cod is hitting home - if the public can understand this then when the pollock look nackered maybe theyll understand a bit quicker ?! Either way I do think the issues with overfishing and the general conception of fishing is getting slightly better - no matter how slow and little - better than none at all. __________________ So near yet so far - Wembley 2008 - Zideered Right Up ! |
