Minnow traps for shrimps.

You can tell how often I actually go fishing by the sheer number of stupid ideas I have .

A bottle with a small hole at one end and a way of letting water out but not small fish at the other, minnow trap, long used to catch , wait for it, minnows.

Now is there any reason the same idea couldn't be used to catch shrimps off a beach. Say throw it out about a few yards baited with some shrimp or prawn attracting bait then pull it in a few minutes later.

Or am I talking from below the rear end of my pelvic vent again?

As usual

Re: Minnow traps for shrimps.

Hi Bb,A lot of peeps around there use traps from rock marks or piers & get some great reports.Shrimps,Gobys,Lobsters, rockling,Crabs,Also macky. You can get them for between £5-10 pounds. Made with Netting & collapse down.Bait up with macky Gutted & other things. They leave them in for 30 mins or so,Or the lobsters will rip the traps to bits. You will be amazed what you get in them.Hope this helps. All the best marty.

Re: Minnow traps for shrimps.

I bought three of these Crayfish Traps on Ebay for a tenner. I'm sure they would work for Prawns too though....

Re: Minnow traps for shrimps.

OK got at least one on order from evil. How best to use them is my next question.
Can you just chuck em in the surf on the end of a line for 20 minutes or so and catch, what's the best way to use them? Cheers,
Pete.
