Sardines for bait (good or bad)

Anybody ever used sardines(fresh).Got a lot of other baits, But could not get any macky,So got a hand full of sardines.All the best marty.

I use them over here in Spain a lot.

Yes I know that they are much more prolific over here! However, many of the fish that you catch in UK waters, especially in the summer, move from the warmer southern waters. Where Sardines are plentiful. Perhaps you should try using small strips of them, especially to tip Ragworm baits.

Interestingly enough, I have only caught Rays in the Mediterranean using Mackerel.

Yes a good bait for Bass used whole but must be fresh and not stinking as these fish go off very quickly in the summer......Also use them for Huss, Rays,
and tipped with Squid for Dogs.
Get a bucket load of Sardines and mash them down with bran and use as a rubby dubby and fish where you would expect Mullet and Bass to be, this should give good sport.
