| Re: Geffskis thailand experience !! yeah the reds ar somthing else! ther like rockets massive flat head powered by a huge paddle tail, ther just muscle the biggest one was 15kg acording to the guid, which aparently isnt all that but bloody big for me and very worried at one point he was gana spool me! absolutly loved the place, ther was another angler ther, a brit that now lives in japan, hell of an angler he had 2 huge arapaim one being near the 100lb mark and all on a 7-8 weight fly rod!!!!!!!!  only my second day in the country and the heat really got to me the first day 115d, so pretty exousting stuff but you can probly tell that by the sweat and nakerd look on my face !gota say the guid was next to useless as he couldnt speak a word of english apart from instructing me "slowly" and pointing were to cast a lure! so pretty much got down to it my self! but hopfully gose to show that with a little angling knowledge (in my case very little) you can catch fish anywere! i used basic carp tactics for the red tails and pike tactics for the pacu and snake head (shads and spinners and free roaming live baits) anyway worked out i can wangle another 2 weeks later in the year, but this time take my box of tricks and hit it hard mabye october when its cooled down to the more bearable 90s and maybe that dream arapaima will be mine! __________________ SCUPPER A COMMERCIAL TOOOO DAY! |
